Former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker recently disclosed information regarding the Stormy Daniels scandal involving former President Trump. Pecker stated that he was initially informed by one of his partners at the Enquirer that Daniels was considering selling her story for $120,000.
As part of a 'catch-and-kill' agreement with Trump and his attorney Michael Cohen, Pecker relayed this information to Cohen. Cohen then reportedly requested Pecker to purchase the story, but Pecker declined, citing his reluctance to be involved with a porn star.
Despite Cohen's warning that Trump would be displeased with Pecker's decision, Pecker stood firm in his refusal to acquire the story. This exchange took place in early October 2016, shortly after the release of the infamous 'Access Hollywood' tape.
Prosecutors in the New York v. Trump case are emphasizing the timing of Trump's alleged hush money payments in relation to the Access Hollywood tape's publication. They aim to demonstrate that Trump's actions were campaign-related when making the payments.
