Former Motherwell boss 'odds-on favourite' for job in England

Former Motherwell boss Graham Alexander has emerged as odds-on favourite to land the vacant York City managerial job.

The 51-year-old has taken over from Manchester City coach Brian Barry-Murphy as the new 1/2 favourite to replace John Askey at the National League club.

Ex-Salford City boss Alexander was most recently in charge at the Fir Park club, but left in July following bruising Europa Conference League second qualifier defeats to Irish side Sligo Rovers.

Former Scotland international defender Alexander has extensive experience down south, and won promotion through League Two with Fleetwood Town and the the Vanarama National League with Salford City, both of which were via play-offs.

Man City's elite development squad head coach Barry-Murphy is second favourite on the list, followed by Chesterfield assistant Daniel Webb.
