Former MLA’s daughter ends life

Former Aswaraopeta MLA Thati Venkateshwarlu’s daughter Thati Mahalakshmi, 26, an MBBS graduate, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Sarapaka of Burgampad mandal in the early hours of Thursday.

According to the police, she was found hanging in a room in her house in Sarapaka by her family members early on Thursday morning.

She was rushed to the Government Area Hospital in Bhadrachalam, where the doctors declared her brought dead, police sources added.

She had completed her MBBS recently from a medical college in north Telangana. She had been preparing for the NEET-PG exam at her house in her native place.

Sources close to her family said that she was suffering from depression due to “PG entrance exam-related stress and anxiety.”

An inconsolable Thati Venkateshwarlu, a senior TRS leader of the tribal majority district, broke down over the untimely death of his daughter.

A host of TRS leaders including former Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy consoled Mr Venkateshwarlu at his residence in Sarapaka later in the day.

Burgampadu police registered a case under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the Cr.P.C. and are investigating.
