Former Minister passes away

Former Health Minister and Congress leader M.P. Govindan Nair passed away at his residence in Kottayam on Tuesday. He was 94 .

He began his political career as president of the Vijayapuram panchayat in Kottayam and was the Minister for Health from 1962 to 1964 during Congress rule. He had served a term as president of the Travancore Devaswom Board and had been associated with a number of organisations, including the Nair Service Society, Kerala Bar Federation and Urban Banks Federation.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan offered condolences.
