Former Manchester United striker makes Premier League title race claim after win over Man City

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has suggested that Erik ten Hag's side are involved in the Premier League title race following the derby victory over Manchester City on Saturday.

The Reds came from 1-0 down to defeat Pep Guardiola's side 2-1 at Old Trafford, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both on the scoresheet for the home side. The victory saw United climb up to third in the Premier League table - just one point behind the Blues in second.

Ten Hag's side currently sit six points behind league-leaders Arsenal in the table, albeit with Mikel Arteta's side - who are in action against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon - having a game in hand over United.

United, who have not won the Premier League since 2013, have now won their last nine matches in all competitions. Former Reds striker Saha has claimed that Ten Hag's men have a 'good calendar', but was hesitant to put pressure on his former club amid a potential title race.

"It’s unbelievable for any fan because I think the performance yesterday shows the United that we all love," Saha said on Sky Sports. "Two teams were matching each other but it’s brilliant to see brilliant players expressing their confidence in a way we all love to see.

"It was amazing, the race is on. It’s a question of doing the right thing, the momentum is there for them, they have a good calendar so let’s see. I think Man City dropping [points], everyone from Arsenal will be happy and it was great for the championship."

The Reds travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening, before making the trip to the Emirates for a clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
