Former Manchester United favourite David de Gea ends year-long wait to find new club

David de Gea's 13-month search for a new club is finally over.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper departed Old Trafford last summer, after failing to agree new contract terms.

De Gea played 545 matches for United over a 12 year period and was a member of the squad that secured the English Premier League title in 2013. He also won two League Cups, one FA Cup, and the Europa League.

The Spaniard was mooted to join several teams over the past year, yet remained out of professional football for the entire season.

But on Friday, he finally penned a one-year deal with Fiorentina as he looks to kickstart his career.

A social media post from the Serie A outfit confirmed De Gea will be officially presented to the media on Monday.

At 33, De Gea will hope to make his mark instantly at his new employers, starting with a trip to face Parma on August 17. (Image: Fiorentina FC)
