Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero says Newcastle United are surprising everyone this season but has warned it's a long season. It's testament to the work done by Eddie Howe and his coaching staff at St. James' Park.
In just one season, the Magpies head coach has transformed the Toon from relegation certainties into European contenders. Newcastle have surpassed any pre-season expectation having avoided a relegation battle last year.
The vast majority of supporters would have been happy with an improvement on last year, a top-half finish the minimum request. However, they've been able to reap the rewards of their 'we don’t demand a team that wins, we demand a club that tries' request.

Newcastle have lost just once in the Premier League this season and are still unbeaten at St. James' Park, holding Aguero's former club to a 3-3 draw earlier in the season. Despite their lofty heights, Aguero has warned they have to stay in the fight after a recent lull.
Speaking to Stake.com, the former Manchester City forward said: "They have had a very good start to the season, surprising everyone, with a consistent game and great defence. It is very difficult for them to score against them, and they have a goal threat.
"But the Premier League is long and very competitive. It's not just about being up there for a moment but staying in the fight."
