Former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy is currently under investigation by Louisiana State Police in connection with a tragic vehicle accident that occurred in Lafourche Parish in December. The incident resulted in the death of a 78-year-old man named Herman Hall from Thibodaux, Louisiana.
According to authorities from State Police Troop C in Gray, Louisiana, Lacy, who recently graduated from LSU and declared for the NFL draft, is suspected of driving recklessly at the time of the accident. Allegations include speeding, passing in a no-passing zone, and causing another motorist to swerve and crash head-on into a separate vehicle.
State Police have issued an arrest warrant for Lacy on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle. It was reported that Lacy fled the scene of the accident without rendering aid or seeking help for those involved.
Lacy, a standout receiver for LSU during the 2024 season, was second on the team in both catches and receiving yards. He led the team in receiving touchdowns with nine in 12 games played. Despite the ongoing investigation, Lacy declared for the NFL Draft shortly after the accident and did not participate in LSU's victory over Baylor in the Texas Bowl on December 31.
State Police are currently in discussions with Lacy's legal representation regarding his surrender. The university, LSU, has refrained from making any comments on the matter, citing respect for the legal process.
As the investigation unfolds, the community awaits further developments in this tragic incident that has left one individual deceased and a former LSU star facing serious legal repercussions.
