Former Love Island and Only Fans star goes from DJing in Dublin clubs to New York Fashion Week

A former Love Island contestant has gone from DJing in Dublin clubs to New York Fashion Week after years of graft and hard work.

Kaila Troy, who now earns money through her successful Only Fans page, received a phone call that led to her amazing opportunity in the Big Apple that saw her DJ at one of the biggest events in the world along side some huge names.

The 28-year-old crashed landed into Casa Amor midway through last year's Love Island series to start her man hunt. But she was dumped from the island just three days after flying out, even after building a close bond with Teddy Soares.

However, Kaila is now doing better than ever after landing a huge gig in New York. The Malahide beauty told Dublin Live: “It was crazy because I got a last minute call on a Tuesday and asked me what I was doing that Thursday. They asked me to DJ for New York Fashion Week and they said they’d fly me out the next day.

“It was super last minute, I had to organise my outfits and everything. I flew from LA to New York. I played at 11pm at night, got a McDonalds and went to bed. I was told I’d get a call in the morning, I didn’t really know much. They had a car pick me up.”

Kaila has always been driven and focused on her career. She started off Irish dancing, and then she went to hip-hop and breakdancing. When she turned 18 she decided she wanted to DJ.

Frank Jez from FM104 taught Kaila how to DJ. The pair used to do afterparties for celebrities when they were in Dublin. She also performed at the Wright Venue on Urban Fridays.

Speaking about her big gig in New York, Kaila said: “I didn’t know what exactly to expect - the call was so last minute that I didn’t even have time to ask about the details of the show. The only time I had to really prepare was 30 minutes before I started to get ready.

“It’s a big fashion show. The setup was amazing. There were a lot of people there. They had all these models and then they had celebrities like Remy Ma the rapper - she walked the runway. They had Antonio Brown walking in it, he used to play in the NFL.

“They’d a few surprise guests, it was really fun. The costumes, the outfits, hair and makeup were unbelievable. It was such a good show.

“It’s a mad thing for me to be at some of these places. When you’re back home it seems so far-fetched. It’s like something you’d see on TV and not real life.”
