Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho in talks over next club with Aston Villa to take massive wage hit

Philippe Coutinho is set be moved on by Aston Villa just 12 months after sealing a permanent transfer to the Premier League club.

The Brazilian was once adored on Merseyside, developing into one of the finest playmakers in world football in the Brendan Rodgers era and also Jurgen Klopp's early plans.

He notched 99 goal contributions in 201 appearances in the famous red strip, but his desire to play for Barcelona invoked a transfer saga that brought his Liverpool career to a sad end.

The story afterwards is well known, and Coutinho's career at the Camp Nou didn't turn out as hoped. Barca supporters quickly turned on him too, resulting in two loan moves away from Spain before eventually ending up under the wing of former team-mate Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

However, this latest move has also not gone to plan. Gerrard's sacking, Unai Emery's appointment and a handful of injuries have hampered his progress at Villa Park, where he contributed towards eight goals in 19 appearances on loan initially in 2022.

Now, as reported by Sport.ES via Birmingham Live, his second stint in England is coming to and end with Villa negotiating a loan exit for their player.

Turkish club Besiktas have made an offer, hoping to acquire Coutinho's services for a one-year period with an £8million option to buy, should they be impressed.

To even make sure the deal goes through early this transfer window, Villa will pay 60 percent of the Brazil international's wages while in Turkey.
