Former Liverpool goalkeeper takes bizarre swipe and deletes tweet after Champions League final defeat

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has taken a bizarre swipe at his old club following their Champions League final defeat.

The Reds suffered yet more heartbreak a week after being pipped to the Premier League title. Jurgen Klopp’s side were last week beaten to the title by a point by Manchester City.

And in Paris on Saturday night, the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior with the only goal in the second-half.

The forward fired home Fede Valverde’s low cross at the back post. While the Reds also found Thibaut Courtois in inspired form in the Real goal.

But reacting to the game at full-time, Vigouroux wrote on Twitter: “Some parade tomorrow, hope they show all 4 trophies.” However, the former Reds stopper appeared to delete his tweet minutes after posting it.

After already claiming the League Cup and FA Cup - at the expense of Chelsea both times - the Reds headed into the final weeks of the season with an unprecedented quadruple still achievable. But it wasn’t to be for Klopp’s side.

Vigouroux joined Liverpool in July 2014 after a successful trial following his contract at Tottenham Hotspur came to an end. However, he departed for Swindon Town two-years later without making a single first-team appearance.

The 28-year-old currently plays for Leyton Orient in League Two, having previously had spells with Waterford and Everton de Vina del Mar.
