Former Liverpool FC star makes bold claim about Paul Pogba's future after Manchester United

Former Liverpool and England midfielder Steve McManaman believes Manchester United ace Paul Pogba would have expected more clubs to be vying for his signature ahead of this summer.

The France international, who is currently sidelined through injury, is expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June. He has shown no signs of being prepared to extend his stay at Old Trafford and his expected departure will signal the beginning of a much-needed rebuild this summer.

As revealed by the Manchester Evening News earlier this month, French giants Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer to sign Pogba following his exit from United. It is understood that the Ligue 1 club's offer was lower than United's last attempt to convince him to stay.

As well as PSG, Real Madrid and former club Juventus have been linked with his signature, but concrete interest from elsewhere has been few and far between. And for former Liverpool ace McManaman, he believes Pogba, who is unlikely to ever play for United again, would have expected more suitors ahead of his Reds contract running out.

McManaman told HorseRacing.net : "Paul Pogba probably did expect more clubs to be in for him, but his form hasn’t been good enough, really, has it? But someone will take him.

"I have no idea if clubs have spoken to him and opted out due to financial reasons, I don't know, but on a free contract and being the player he is, and the player he is for France, then there will be suitors. I guess it’s just his financial demands.

"I presume people have spoken to Mino Raiola and have asked if he's leaving Manchester United and what he wants. Once you know his wishes then you weigh everything up.

"Are these wage demands applicable to how he's been playing football and whether it will upset the team around you?"
