Former Liverpool FC goalkeeper Simon Mignolet welcomes new baby

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has welcomed his second child after his wife Jasmine Claes gave birth this week.

The 34-year-old married Jasmine at a ceremony in his hometown of Sint-Truiden, Belgium, in June 2015. Their son Lex was born in October 2019.

Mignolet made his departure from Merseyside earlier that year, after six years of service. He moved to Club Brugge, where he signed a five-year contract - reportedly worth £6.4m.

Sharing an adorable snap of himself cuddling the newborn on Instagram, Simon said: "When spring brings Vin! #VinMignolet". He also commented: "Both mum and Vin are doing well".

Liverpool FC goalkeeping coach John Achterberg said: "Congratulations Si hope all is well with everyone". Belgian Olympic gymnast Nina Derwael said: "So sweet! Congratulations!"

Liverpool fans were quick to wish the former Reds star well. karen.barcelonista.kopite said: "Oooohh congratulations!!!!". Vishnu P said: "YNWA [red heart emoji]", while siobhan18373 said: "Welcome to the world little man YNWA"

Vin's arrival comes just two weeks after his dad turned 34. On the day, he thanked his followers for their kind words, and shared a post on Instagram of an unusual birthday cake, featuring TREK protein bars.
