Ex-Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has urged his former club to try and sign Manchester United target Christian Eriksen in this summer's transfer window.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Wednesday, United are interested in signing the Denmark international on a free transfer, but face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for his signature. He is available after his short-term deal at Brentford recently came to an end.
The Bees remain hopeful of retaining his services this summer but face a huge battle. He joined the Londoners in January after leaving Inter Milan, following confirmation that he would not be allowed to play in Italy due to being fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device after suffering a cardiac arrest at last summer's European Championship.

In just 11 appearances for the Bees, Eriksen made a telling impression, scoring one goal and claiming four assists. He looked assured and confident, meaning interest in his signature from big-name clubs this summer was always expected.
And in the eyes of former Liverpool defender Enrique, he would be an ideal addition to Jurgen Klopp's side. The Spaniard insists he would be a good, short-term signing, believing he could push for a regular starting berth at Anfield.
Speaking on his Instagram page, Enrique said: "Another interesting player that could be our [Liverpool's] solution to our midfield and spending nothing because he is a free agent. He is a short-term solution but then we can wait for [Jude] Bellingham next season.
"He will play if he deserves to play like everyone else. Eriksen is a top player and I believe he can compete for a starting spot in our XI. The season is very long.
"He is that kind of player, like Thiago, but maybe a little bit more offensive. But Thiago is our magician."
United are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements this summer, with Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata all on their way out of the club. United continue to keep a watchful eye on Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong, but they are also running the rule over Eriksen.
