Former Liverpool fan-favourite spotted at Anfield for Wolves win

Those inside Anfield remained in fine voice despite the disappointing ending to the Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.

Despite earning a 3-1 win over Wolves at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp's side have again been pipped to the title by Manchester City by a single point. The Reds fell behind on home soil after Pedro Neto's early strike, though fought back with goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson to round off the season in style.

As news began to filter around the ground of City's late comeback against Villa, there was an initial sense of sadness before Liverpool supporters began to back their side once again for their heroic efforts over the course of the campaign.

VERDICT: What Wolves fans sang at Anfield shows they're missing the point about Liverpool

One individual who made the trip to watch the first-team in action was none other than former fan-favourite, Maxi Rodriguez. The ex-Argentina international spent two years at Anfield and often caught the eye with his elegant play within the final third of the pitch.

Maxi represented the Liverpool Legends at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon as part of a charity match against Manchester United, helping Sir Kenny Dalglish's men earn a 3-1 victory over their old foes. And it seems the 41-year-old was in no rush to return home, having stuck around to see how Klopp's men fared on the final day of the league season.

The 2012 League Cup winner was also back on Merseyside in March as Liverpool Legends took on Barcelona and looked at home mixing in with the fans on his return to the ground for the final day showdown.
