Former Liverpool and Chelsea star disagrees with Gary Neville on Arsenal title charge

Former Liverpool and Chelsea star Joe Cole believes Arsenal have the ingredients to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Having made a strong start to the 22/23 campaign, the Gunners safely saw off Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium last weekend and make the trip to South Yorkshire to face Leeds United tomorrow afternoon. With Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko expected to miss the clash, Mikel Arteta's selections will be closely monitored.

Cole, 40, won three Premier Leagues with the Blues during his seven-year stint and has disagreed with claims previously made with Gary Neville regarding Mikel Arteta's chances of success this season.

"I'm a believer now,'' Cole told BT Sport. ''We’ve seen them trip up themselves so many times over 10 years, you always want to have another look and another look, but the process Mikel Arteta is talking about for the last 12-18 months is starting to bear fruition.

"'The young players, the ones coming in, are delivering it. It looks like a well-oiled machine. Exciting times for Arsenal fans.’"

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli's contracts are two that most supporters will hope to be tide up quickly and swiftly in the coming weeks, given the pair's strong start to the season, netting eight goals between them so far this season.

Gary Neville previously stated that he feels City have the ingredients to retain the title once again this term, lauding praise the way of his once Manchester rivals. "I just feel like they [City] can win this league quite easily,'' he began via his Sky Sports podcast.

''I hope it's not the case, obviously, because I want us to have competition and it to be really a fascinating season and for them to be pushed all the way, if not to be beaten. But I just feel like what I've watched there is something exceptional."
