Former Lions QB Kellen Moore is a hot head coaching candidate

While the man he once backed up will continue to play in the NFL’s postseason, former Lions quarterback Kellen Moore is hitting the interview circuit. Moore is a hot head coaching candidate around the league despite the inglorious ending to the Dallas Cowboys’ season.

Moore, 32, has interviews lined up for the vacant head coaching positions with the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins this week, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Moore has been the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys since 2019, and the Dallas offense has performed well under his guidance. He was Matthew Stafford’s primary backup in Detroit from 2012-2014 after a stellar collegiate career at Boise State. His cerebral play maximized his limited physical abilities, and he never played in the regular season in Detroit. Moore bounced to Dallas, where he became Tony Romo’s backup until he shifted to coaching in 2018.
