Former Leeds United stars Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha have sent messages to Crysencio Summerville after he signed a new deal on Tuesday. Summerville had just one year left to run on his contract at Elland Road put pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal on Tuesday to extend his stay until the summer of 2026.
The 20-year-old will be hoping for an even greater first team involvement in the new season following his breakthrough last term. He made six Premier League appearances in the 2021/22 campaign but is expected to play a bigger role this time around with clubs now able to use five substitutions in matches.
Summerville had wanted to go out on loan in January when Marcelo Bielsa was in charge to pursue regular game time, though no move ever materialised. That does not seem to be the case now, however, with the Netherlands U21 international having been given the vacant number 10 – a huge show of confidence from the club in the youngster.

There are particularly big boots to fill when you consider who was donning that shirt last season. Leeds’ departed Brazilian superstar Raphinha did not feel the pressure of the number 10 on his shoulders as he scored 11 Premier League goals.
Of course, that form has now earned him a move to Barcelona, allowing Summerville to change from his previous number 38. But Raphinha, as well as Phillips – who made the switch to Manchester City in July – are clearly backing Summerville to step up and shine after his new deal as they sent their messages of congratulations in their own way via Instagram.
