Former Leeds United star Raphinha's angry response to Premier League return rumours

Former Leeds United winger Raphinha has hit back at claims that he is open to leaving Barcelona this summer after he was linked with the likes of Newcastle United and Chelsea.

The Brazilian traded Elland Road for Catalonia last summer, with his final act in a Leeds shirt coming when the Whites successfully beat the drop on the final day of last season at Brentford.

Earlier this week Spanish outlet Sport claimed that the winger 'had given the OK' for Barcelona to offer out his services, with an £80million price tag mooted, as links to Newcastle geared up.

The former Whites hero caught wind of these reports when they were relayed by Fanatico Sport Futebol, an Instagram account with over one million followers, and quickly issued a strong rebuke.

"Lies. The person who said this is a liar and uninformed," the Brazilian replied on the social network.

"Okay, [they] deleted my comment because lie once again," he added. "This is a lie and whoever said it is an uninformed liar and not professional. If my comment is deleted, I will post it on my Instagram."

Barcelona remain mired in something of a financial quagmire and after pulling on a number of 'economic levers' over the past year, they will likely have to raise money from a number of player sales this summer. La Liga have ordered the club to trim their expenditure by €200m (£177m), which could put the dampeners on sensational Camp Nou return for Lionel Messi.

Raphinha, however, remains happy at the club and manager Xavi has heaped praise on the 26-year-old in recent weeks, with the winger featuring 45 times for the club since his move from Leeds United. Barca are just one win away from selling their first La Liga title in four seasons.
