Simon Grayson has helped create history with Bengaluru FC as his side won their first-ever Durand Cup. The former Leeds United boss took over at the Indian Super League club in June earlier this year after leaving Fleetwood Town in November 2021.
The 52-year-old is yet to taste defeat in charge of his new club, winning five out of the seven games in charge. The most recent being a 2-1 win over Mumbai City in the final of the Durand Cup.
Sivasakthi Narayanan's goal gave Grayson's side the lead before Apuia Ralte’s levelled the score after half-an-hour, but Benglaruru restored their lead through Alan Costa's header just after the hour mark - the decisive winner. It's the Englishman's first taste of domestic silverware, if you were to exclude his play-off campaigns with Blackpool, Preston North-End and Huddersfield Town.
Both goal scorers were brought into the side by Grayson ahead of the game.
Bengaluru FC tweeted: "Ahead of the final, Simon Grayson made two changes to his starting XI. They scored the goals that would bring home the cup. Masterclass."
