Former Leeds Rhinos halfback Georgia Roche has made history after signing a world record five-year contract with Newcastle Knights. It has been revealed that Roche, the first-ever Women of Steel, has signed a deal that will see her stay with the club until the end of 2027.
The contracts of every NRLW player have been publicly revealed and they show that Roche, as well as her teammate Tamika Upton, both hold the longest contracts in the competition. They are the longest ever to be signed by a female player.
By comparison, the two other English players to head down under, Hollie-Mae Dodd and Francesca Goldthorp, have signed two and one-year deals respectively, though former Rhino Goldthorp has the option to extend her contract for another season.

The season starts on July 22nd and has been increased to ten teams, up previously from six. Players have been drafted in from other parts of the world, as well as other sports.
Roche, 22, was a star performer for Leeds in the Women's Super League and took a lead role in England's World Cup campaign, which saw them reach the semi-finals.
