Part of a former social club in Knotty Ash could be knocked down to make way for a new care home.
Plans submitted to Liverpool Council ’s planning team have detailed how an extension on the site of the Mayfair social club on Grant Road would be knocked down as it is transformed into an 18-room care facility. According to planning documents issued to the local authority, the site is currently vacant.
The current two-storey building, which acted as a club premises, would be subject to the change of use but no additional alterations are expected to be made to vehicle or pedestrian access, including amendments to parking on site. The documents, which were received by Liverpool Council earlier this month, said the land on which the site sits is now owned by applicant Flannigan Estates.

The site, which housed a function room and bar lounge on separate sides of the building, measures at 610 square feet and will host en-suite bedrooms throughout. Kitchen, office and laundry facilities are also proposed within the application.
A lounge and dining facilities would be located at the centre of the proposal for future residents. Gardens and an outdoor seating area are planned for the rear of the property, with screened bin storage. The planning documents said a private waste collection contract will be entered into for regular scheduled servicing by a private waste collection and recycling company.
As part of the change of use, an existing smoking shelter outside the building will be removed as well as an extension. New PVC windows at the side and front of the building are proposed to be installed to the current brick façade.
New doors will also be fitted to the building to replace steel shutters in place on the existing front of the building. The proposed operator of the care home is not identified within the planning application.
No date has been set for the plans to be considered by Liverpool Council’s planning committee.
