Former Kilmarnock captain Gary Dicker retires from football at 35

Former Kilmarnock captain Gary Dicker has announced his retirement today, aged 35.

He was skipper during the iconic Steve Clarke era when the Ayrshire side bagged third spot in the Scottish Premiership and qualified for the Europa League.

His time at Rugby Park ended in a sour note as he was part of the side who was relegated from the top flight last year.

He made 190 appearances during his five seasons in blue and white after joining from Carlisle United, and he will live long in the memory of Killie fans.

He has since been player/coach with Brighton Under-23s and now he's decided it's time to stop playing.

Announcing the news on his Twitter he said: "Officially retired and hanging up the boots.

"A big thank you to all the clubs, fans, players, staff and managers I’ve played with and played for.

"I’ve lived the dream...doing something I’ve loved day in, day out. Thank you."
