Former Katie Taylor opponent who wants rematch calls out Amanda Nunes after MMA debut

Firuza Sharipova has vowed to beat Amanda Nunes after making her MMA debut.

The Kazakhstani fighter, who lost to Katie Taylor last December in Liverpool, defeated fellow MMA debutant Karina Ondasynova in her native country last week, submitting her opponent in the opening round with a rear-naked choke.

Sharipova, who has repeatedly called for a rematch with Taylor and claimed that the judges got the decision wrong in their fight, now appears to be turning her attention to the UFC's pound-for-pound greatest female.

Posting a photo of two-weight UFC champion Nunes on Instagram, Sharipova wrote: "Amanda Nunes, I'm coming for you. I will be the UFC champion."

The Brazilian won back her bantamweight title with a one-sided points win over Julianna Pena last weekend.

Nunes dominated her rival over five one-sided rounds to win back her bantamweight title seven months after losing it to Pena in one of the sport's biggest upsets.

Both fighters have been suspended indefinitely after their brutal and bloody UFC 277 title fight.

A rematch between Sharipova, who was a mandatory challenger for Taylor's WBA belt, was quickly dismissed by both the undisputed lightweight champion and her promoter Eddie Hearn last December.

But Sharipova again called out Taylor after the Bray Bomber's Madison Square Garden win over Amanda Serrano earlier this year.

She posted: "Today was one of the best fights in the history of women's boxing between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, in which my rival Katie Taylor won.

"I am proud to have fought five-time lightweight title holder Taylor on equal terms and I will seek a rematch.

"Now I intend to prepare better and beat her this time.

"Sofya Ochigawa used to be on my list of most desirable opponents, but now Amanda Serrano has been added to them. Big respect to both Taylor and Serrano for this fight!"
