Former Jets Star Receiver Says He’d Unretire to Play With Aaron Rodgers

To say it's been a minute since wide receiver Brandon Marshall played in the NFL is an understatement.

Marshall, 39, caught his most recent pass on Oct. 14, 2018, in a 27–3 Seahawks win over the Oakland Raiders. Since then, he's remained in the spotlight, spreading mental health awareness and founding the I Am Athlete media company.

However, Marshall doesn't seem to have ruled out a return to football altogether. The reason, as Marshall outlined on a Friday episode of I Am Athlete, lies in the Jets' trade for quarterback Aaron Rodgers on April 24.

"Here's why I'll be ready if I get the call to come back as a New York Jet at tight end: We're going to win a Super Bowl," Marshall said. "I'm going to be able to contribute at a high level, and this is what I'm going to be able to give you: 45 catches throughout the year, 20 to 30 plays a game, and I'm going to give you eight touchdowns."

These would be lofty numbers even for Marshall, who last hit 45 catches in 2016 and eight touchdowns in ’15. However, as long ago as his career was, Marshall made eight Pro Bowls with the Broncos, Dolphins, Bears, Jets, Giants and Seahawks. In that '15 season with the Jets, his 14 touchdowns led the NFL.
