Former Jesse Marsch assistant still working with Leeds United stars after Elland Road exit

Former Austria international Franz Schiemer is still working with Leeds United players despite being dismissed from the club when manager Jesse Marsch was sacked last month.

The American has since been replaced by Javi Gracia, who has lifted the spirits around Elland Road since his arrival in late February, but some of the Spaniard's players are still in contact with Schiemer.

Originally hired as an assistant coach with Marsch at Red Bull Salzburg in 2019 before his switch to the Whites and has since been working on his own coaching business.

Confirming his termination from Leeds and continual work with the club's players such as compatriot Max Wober at Austria's training camp for their EURO 2024 qualification campaign this week, the former defender admitted in an interview with Kronen Zeitung there was a 'great deal of trust' between him and Marsch before their departure from Elland Road.

Since his dismissal, it seems as though he has only worked as an external coach and advisor at the club this season, and revealed that he's been helping Hajduk Split midfielder Lukas Grgic and LASK winger Husein Balic individually with video analysis amongst other means.

Schiemer also opened up about his cooperation with Cercle Bruges manager Miron Muslic, but that there's been no discussions between him and the Austrian national team about a move back into coaching at a national level.
