Myles Jack is back on the open market, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, just one year after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars and scooped up by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jack, 27, was a second-round pick for the Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft and started 82 games for the team over his six seasons with the franchise. In 2019, Jack signed a four-year, $57 million contract extension, but he was released shortly after the team signed Foye Oluokun last offseason.
Pittsburgh gave Jack a two-year, $16 million deal, but the linebacker struggled in his first season with the team. He recorded three tackles for loss, three passes defended, and 104 tackles, but didn’t log an interception, forced fumble, or sack in 13 games. Late in the season, Jack was sidelined with a groin injury.
Jack finished the 2022 season with a 53.6 grade from Pro Football Focus.
The Steelers will eat $3.25 million in dead money by cutting Jack and will save $8 million in cap space.
