Former Coronation Street star Nicola Thorp has announced she is engaged. The actress revealed that fellow actor Nikesh Patel popped the question in a social media post after a whirlwind romance that began back in 2021.
Nicola, 34, took to Instagram on Sunday (January 29) to reveal the happy news. The former soap star, who played Nicola Rubinstein, the long-lost daughter of serial killer Pat Phelan, in the ITV soap from 2017 to 2019, and her husband-to-be beamed in a series of gorgeous snaps.
The images showed the happy pair standing in a room full of balloons as she flashed her ring finger to the camera to show her dazzling new accessory - a stunning emerald ring.
Nicole and Nikesh, 38, also both pulled shocked faces as they took the selfie. Actor Nikesh, who is best known for his roles as Aafrin Dalal in the TV series Indian Summers, Kash Khan in the mini series Four Weddings and A Funeral, and Tom Kapoor in the sitcom Starstruck, cut a smart figure as he donned a white shirt and black bow tie combo, while his new fiancee stunned a beautiful red dress.
The pair both shared the snaps to Instagram but didn't leave any captions as they let the photos do the talking. But the loved-up couple were soon flooded with congratulatory messages.
Former Emmerdale star Simon Lennon said: "Ahh amazing news. Congrats!" Queer Eye's Tan France commented: "HUGE congrats, Nikesh. So happy for you guys!" Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel replied: "Awwww yaaaaaaaay Congratulations!!!!" This Morning host Dermot O'Leary commented: "Hey! The best news. Congrats x."
