Israel’s former defense minister has expressed his happiness over the release of three Israeli hostages who were kidnapped by Hamas and held in Gaza. The hostages were freed as part of a ceasefire and hostage release deal between the two parties.
Former defense minister Yoav Gallant shared his sentiments on social media, stating, “Our hearts fill with joy at the sight of families reuniting with their loved ones.” He emphasized the importance of redeeming captives, quoting the 12th-century Jewish philosopher Rabbi Maimonides.
Gallant, who was dismissed from his position by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in November, extended his prayers for the safe return of all hostages and expressed solidarity with the families awaiting the return of their loved ones.

On Thursday, a total of eight hostages, including three Israelis and five Thai nationals, were released from captivity in various locations in Gaza. This release marks the beginning of the agreement reached on January 19, which aims to free a total of 33 Israeli hostages held by Hamas and other armed groups.
As part of the agreement, Israel is also expected to release around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the freedom of the hostages. The release of the hostages has been a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, bringing hope for further progress towards peace and reconciliation.
