India is mourning the loss of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away at the age of 92. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) confirmed his death in a statement.
According to AIIMS, Singh lost consciousness at his home on Thursday and was immediately taken to AIIMS in New Delhi. The hospital revealed that he had been undergoing treatment for age-related medical conditions and experienced a sudden loss of consciousness.
Despite resuscitative efforts by medical personnel, Singh was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m. local time on the same day.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, describing Singh as one of the country's most distinguished leaders. Modi highlighted Singh's efforts during his tenure as Prime Minister to enhance the lives of the Indian populace.
