Former Hollyoaks star Paul Danan says he'll turn budding actors into next Robert De Niro

Former Hollyoaks star Paul Danan is making budding actors an offer they can’t refuse – to turn them into the next Al Pacino or Robert De Niro.

The former soap star insists the lofty claim for his acting course is not a pile of Raging Bull.

And just like The Godfather stars, Danan – who played soap bad boy Sol Patrick for four years – goes deep into roles with method acting.

The actor wrote online: “Wanna be the next De Niro or Pacino and live near or in Bristol or willing to travel to develop your craft? Then come and give it a go. I’ve been studying the method for over 25 years.

"I trained with David Bennett, the man who ran the Lee Strasberg method school in the UK, and because of his incredible tutoring I ended up bagging a lead role in Hollyoaks for four years.”

Danan, 44, held his first drama workshop during lockdown and went on to set up The Morning After Theatre Company.

Wannabe thespians who sign up to his courses will receive guest talks from some of his famous pals, such as EastEnders ’ acting heavyweights Dean Gaffney (Robbie Jackson), Danniella Westbrook (Sam Mitchell) and Shaun Williamson (Barry Evans).

Danan joined Hollyoaks in 1997, when the show was a smash hit. He also appeared in the original series of Love Island, which featured celebrity contestants such as Calum Best.

Most recently he starred in E4’s Celebrity Coach Trip and could be seen larking around on a bus with Birds of a Feather actresses Lesley Joseph and Linda Robson, former X Factor contestant Honey G and 90s girlband Honeyz.

Pacino, 82, has won an Oscar for Scent of a Woman, two Tonys and two Emmys and is one of the most influential actors of his age.

De Niro won Oscars for Raging Bull and The Godfather Part II, in which he said: “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.”

He also appeared in the hit movies Taxi Driver and The Deer Hunter.
