Former Glasgow Warriors player Federico Aramburú shot dead outside bar in Paris

A former Glasgow Warriors rugby player has been shot dead outside a bar in Paris, according to media reports.

Federico Martín Aramburú was murdered around 6am this morning in the Boulevard Saint-Germain area of the French capital, reports news site Clarin in his native Argentina.

The 42-year-old earned 22 caps for Argentina and was part of the Los Pumas squad who finished third at the Rugby World Cup in France in 2007, and turned out for the likes of Perpignan, Biarritz and Club Atlético de San Isidro at club level.

The former winger's stint with Glasgow Warriors saw him play 41 times for the Scotstoun side after signing in the summer of 2010.

Glasgow Warriors paid tribute to the Argentine on social media in the wake of the tragic news.

They tweeted: "We are shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden and tragic death of Warrior #185, Federico Aramburu.

"The embodiment of a true Warrior and much-loved by all, the thoughts of everyone past and present at the club, are with his family at this immensely difficult time."

Joining them was the Rugby World Cup, who tweeted: "The rugby family mourns the loss of former Argentina winger Federico Martín Aramburú at the age of 42. Part of the Los Pumas squad who finished third at RWC 2007, he won 22 caps for his country and represented the likes of Glasgow Warriors, Perpignan and Biarritz."
