Georgia fans will be forever grateful to offensive coordinator Todd Monken for what he was able to accomplish during his short time in Athens.
Monken was hired in 2020, and won a national title in two of his three years with Georgia. UGA’s offense finished in the top-10 nationally in scoring average for each of the last two seasons.
But Monken accepted the position of offensive coordinator this offseason with the Baltimore Ravens, and will look to give it another go at the NFL level.
Also in Baltimore is former Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith, who was traded to Baltimore from the Chicago Bears last season. Smith is entering his fifth season in the NFL. He’s been one of the league’s most consistent performers at the middle linebacker position since being taken in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft.
Smith was asked to comment on the Ravens’ hiring the former Georgia offensive coordinator, and the reviews were positive.
“I’m very excited about (Todd) Monken”, Smith told reporters in a recent press conference. “I remember watching plenty of games over the fall watching the ‘Dawgs and they made it look easy a lot of the time. He utilizes everyone at their positions. There’s a lot of eye-candy and things like that. I remember thinking, ‘man if some of that stuff was brought to the league it’s going to create some problems. He’s obviously a great addition. I’m excited to go up against him every day at practice.
