Former Georgia Bulldog offensive tackle and SEC Network analyst Matt Stinchcomb predicts that the Florida Gators will go 6-6 during the 2022 college football season. Stinchcomb has the Gators starting the season 1-3.
Florida does have a tough schedule start to the season, but we think they’ll win at least one game against Utah, Kentucky, or Tennessee. We especially like Florida’s chances against the Volunteers. The Gators have won 16 of the last 17 games against Tennessee. Yes, Tennessee has a better team on paper, yet Florida always seems to win with relative ease.
Florida starting quarterback Anthony Richardson is very talented and should be able to help the Gators pull off a few upsets in head coach Billy Napier’s debut season. Additionally, the Gators always have a talented secondary.
It won’t take long to find out if Florida is good. The Gators open the season against last year’s Pac-12 champion, Utah. The Utes are ranked as a one of the top teams in the country.

Do you agree with Stinchcomb’s preseason prediction for Florida? We think it is being a little bit harsh on the Gators, but it is not outside of the realm of possibility.
Ultimately, if Florida wants to have an eight or nine win season, then the Gators must perform better in one score games. Last season, Florida went 1-4 in one-possession games.
