Former Galway hurler Tony Og Regan has been appointed to the Limerick backroom team by manager John Kiely.
Regan has come on board as performance psychology coach, reports the Limerick Leader, and replaces the highly-rated Caroline Currid, who moved on after playing what was widely acknowledged as a key role in last year’s All-Ireland success.
The ex-Galway defender won a League title with his county in 2010 as well as a Leinster Championship two years later. He has a masters in sport and exercise psychology from Waterford IT.

Regan has amassed quite the CV already having been involved with Tipperary hurlers under Michael Ryan for three years, which included the 2016 All-Ireland success, and the Galway footballers when they won the Connacht title the same year as well as his county’s minor hurlers when they claimed All-Ireland titles in 2015 and ‘17. He also had a role with Waterford senior hurlers in the past.
Although it has only emerged, Regan has been part of the Limerick set up throughout the season so far and present for last Sunday’s League semi-final win over Dublin at Nowlan Park.
It’s not his first involvement with Limerick hurling as he played a role in Doon reaching last year’s county final for the first time since 2000, though they were beaten by Na Piarsaigh.
