Former friends fined for having school reunion during lockdown

A group of former pupils so overcome with nostalgia decided to host a reunion on the roof of their former school during lockdown.

Police officers were called to reports of a group of 'youths' who were on the roof of the old Gwendraeth Valley School in Carmarthenshire on May, 3.

When officers arrived at the school, however, they discovered that the 'youths' were in fact a group of former pupils who had met to reminisce about their old school days.

The Gwendraeth Comprehensive School site in Drefach has been closed since 2013 when it merged with the other local school Maes-yr-Yrfa and formed Maes y Gwendraeth in Cefneithin.

The three former pupils were all issued with fines for breaching Covid-19 regulations as the police deemed that it was not essential travel.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Officers responded to reports of youths on the roof of the old Gwendraith Valley Comprehensive School in Drefach."

"The 'youths' on the roof turned out to be 3 adult former pupils 'Reminiscing' about the school. All 3 recieved Fines for breaching Covid 19 laws."
