The tragic death of Tiger Bech in the New Orleans New Year's terror attack has left his former high school football coach, Marty Cannon, heartbroken. Cannon, who is now the principal of St. Thomas More Catholic High School in Lafayette, Louisiana, shared fond memories of his last visit with Bech over the holiday season.
According to Cannon, Bech had visited him right before Christmas and immediately showed genuine interest in his coach's family, the school's well-being, and Cannon's role as principal. Describing Bech as a caring and thoughtful individual, Cannon reflected on their conversation with warmth and admiration.
After graduating from high school, Bech went on to play football at Princeton University for three years, primarily as a kick returner. Princeton coach Bob Surace praised Bech as a fierce competitor, a beloved teammate, and a caring friend in a statement following the tragic news of his passing.
Cannon highlighted Bech's love for his hometown and expressed gratitude for the final opportunity to reconnect with his former player during the Christmas season. He believes that Bech's time spent with family during the holidays will bring long-term healing to those who knew and loved him.
