Former Everton striker explains why Luis Diaz is 'putting pressure' on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

A former Everton striker believes that Luis Diaz is “putting pressure” on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds completed the £49million signing of Diaz from Porto in the closing days of the January transfer window.

Diaz has started life at Anfield in a promising manner, scoring once in his five appearances for Liverpool so far.

The 25-year-old has started Liverpool’s last two matches in the victories over Norwich City and Leeds United, scoring his first goal against the Canaries.

Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell believes that Diaz’s recent performances are pressuring Klopp to make the Colombia international a regular starter.

“Diaz has been brilliant so far,” Campbell told Football Insider .

“You can see that he is very happy to be at Liverpool. The pressure is going to be on Klopp when everyone is fully fit.

“Diaz is putting pressure on Klopp to start him every week with his performances but for me, Liverpool’s best front three is Mane, Salah and Firmino. They are still the players for the big occasions, with Jota just behind them. Those four are the mainstays for now.

“Diaz and Harvey Elliott are the next string of players who will make a difference for Liverpool.

“Diaz was very good business. Klopp is building for the future, that’s for sure.”
