Former EuroLeague MVP with Bulls connections set to make jump to NBA

The Chicago Bulls are set to make plenty of changes to their roster this summer. Arturas Karnisovas hinted at this during his post-NBA draft media session, noting fans should wait to judge the team until the end of free agency. With Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic leading the way, a few more additions could lead to a playoff birth.

One player the Bulls could look to target is Vasilje Micic, who is reportedly looking to make the jump to the NBA this season, according to Christos Tsaltas of Sportal. Micic has some Bulls connections as noted by Elias Schuster of Bleacher Nation.

Schuster linked Chicago’s interest in Micic to two summers ago – July of 2021. Reports leaked the Bulls were interested in obtaining Micic’s rights, which are owned by the Oklahoma City Thunder, who selected him with the 52nd pick in the 2014 NBA draft.

Micic, a Serbian-born point guard, is 29 years old and has spent the past three years with Anadolu Efes, a Turkish basketball club that competes in the EuroLeague and Turkish BSL.

In the 2020-21 season, Micic won EuroLeague MVP and has been a dominant force for years overseas. he’s widely regarded as one of the best international players ever.

This past year, he averaged 16.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game on 47.2% shooting from the field and 39.9% shooting from behind the 3-point line across the 62 games he appeared in (EuroLeague and Turkish BSL combined).

With Chicago’s massive hole at the point guard position, Micic would make an amazing addition. There’s even a chance he could earn the starting job. And as the Thunder are in the midst of a rebuild, they could be open to trading Micic’s draft rights.

At the very least, the Bulls should take a serious look at Micic as they attempt to round out their roster this summer.
