A former employee of Dolton, Illinois Mayor Tiffany Henyard has filed a lawsuit against her former employer, citing mistreatment and wrongful termination. The employee, Sandra Tracy, a former Thornton Township Human Resources manager, spoke out about her experience, claiming she was forced to work out of her car and subsequently fired.
Tracy revealed that upon attempting to return to work after a medical leave, she was denied a workspace in the building, leading her to work out of her car for months. When she raised concerns about lost pay, Tracy was terminated by Thornton Township.
Mayor Henyard, who also serves as the county supervisor for Thornton Township, has faced criticism for alleged narcissistic behavior, extravagant spending of taxpayer dollars, and abuse of power. Reports indicate that she placed her personal stylist on the government payroll as an administrative assistant.
The situation has escalated to the point where the village board has requested an FBI investigation into the mayor's financial practices due to a lack of transparency. Tensions between Henyard and the community have been evident, with confrontations occurring at recent town hall meetings.
Tracy's lawyer, Matt Custardo, emphasized that they are committed to holding Mayor Henyard accountable for her actions, stating that she has a history of bullying and intimidation. Tracy herself shared the toll the situation took on her health, revealing that the stress of not being paid and being barred from the building led to a major heart attack.
Despite the challenges she faced, Tracy expressed resilience and determination to seek justice. The lawsuit against Mayor Henyard highlights the need for accountability and transparency in local government.
