Former Emmerdale star Patsy Kensit rushed to hospital with pneumonia

Former Emmerdale star Patsy Kensit is recovering after being rushed to hospital.

As our colleagues at The Mirror report, Patsy, 54, came down with pneumonia over the festive period and was rushed to accident and emergency. The acting star, who played Sadie King in Emmerdale between 2004 and 2006, missed a family ski holiday because of her illness but is now recovering.

Taking to Instagram, Patsy revealed news of her illness and assured fans she’s on the mend. She wrote: "No skiing for me as I’ve got pneumonia so spa and steam and thermals up to my eyeballs.

"Thank you to the amazing NHS for taking care of me on December 29 at A&E in Southport - you are the true heroes on this planet. Health is paramount.”

Patsy will soon be seen making a return to soapland with a role in BBC show EastEnders. Patsy, who has appeared in Hollywood films Lethal Weapon 2 and Absolute Beginners, will play Emma who is the mother of EastEnders character Lola Pearce. EastEnders producer Chris Clenshaw said: “We're delighted to welcome the wonderfully talented Patsy to the EastEnders family.
