Former Emmerdale hunk shows off his 'ripped' lockdown body in 'fat freezing' machine

It was a far cry from his days on Emmerdale as Anthony Quinlan stepped away from the farm and into an ice chamber.

Anthony, who played farmhand Pete Barton in the ITV soap until earlier this year, showed off his impressive lockdown physique as he visited Manchester's The CryoLab.

Anthony, 35, had a session in the cryotherapy chamber, also known as a 'fat freezing machine', with temperatures that drop as low as -180°c.

Cryotherapy tricks the brain into thinking the body has hypothermia, leading to a boost in metabolism and energy.

The Salford actor enjoyed 'having a blast' in the dry ice chamber, which is also used to work on muscular injuries and is used by footballers, boxers, rugby players, athletes and dancers.

And he had some 'spot cryotherapy' to work on a back injury that had plagued him for years.

"Wow that is cold," he gasped as he stepped out of the chamber in his pants.

"Rrrrrrippppppped to shiz," commented former Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley.

"Thought you were doing stars in their eyes for a second there with all the smoke," said another follower.

And Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis shared flames emojis to show her appreciation.

Anthony, who played Gilly Roach in Hollyoaks, has been training hard during lockdown.

This summer he launched a 100 consecutive workouts in 100 days challenge on Instagram live so fans could train along with him.

After reading shocking statistics about domestic abuse he decided to dedicate his 11am workouts to raising money for Women's Aid, which aims to end domestic violence against women and children.

Anthony, who is a qualified personal trainer and Crossfit level one trainer, explained on his JustGiving page: "In light of the recent pandemic, It's been a tough, testing time for everyone and we all have our own issues however big or small.

"Despite the situation we have found ourselves in, something which has stood out and made me feel extremely unsettled, is that while we're supposed to be in 'our safe place, our homes' domestic abuse has risen drastically.

"Here's some stats to take in.

"Calls to the UK’s national domestic abuse helpline have risen by 66 per cent and visits to its website have surged by 950 per cent since the the start of lockdown.

"A report recently released by MPs revealed domestic abuse killings doubled over 21 days during lockdown.

"These are disturbing figures and the large majority of cases are of women being abused. There are currently shortages on places to take refuge, further limiting people who are suffering. "Imagine being trapped with your abuser, having very little options or no escape during this lockdown."
