A historic swimming pool building on the site of an Edinburgh High School is set to be demolished due to safety concerns.
The Pool Hall, as it's referred to, is located near Trinity Academy, Craighall Avenue, and is set to be bulldozed as it presents a 'hazard' within the school grounds. The demolition is also expected to increase the current playground size.
A planning application has been lodged ahead of the development, stating that the building has been closed for five years due to falling material from the roof structure.

The council themselves are the applicant behind the plans as a section of the supporting statement reads: "The Pool Hall, within Block E, of the existing Trinity Academy has been closed for over five years due to falling material from the roof structure.
"This has been securely closed off with no access to pupils or staff, however this presents a hazard within the school grounds and for safety reasons should be removed."
Plans were previously revealed for the redevelopment of the school which do not involve the former Pool Hall. The block was found to possess "no special interest" and during the pre-application process it was confirmed that only a Conservation Area Consent would be required for its removal.
The supporting statement adds: "The removal of this hall will also result in additional external playground space which will be of benefit to the school, whose site has suffered from subsequent developments from the 1950s."
