The councillor has been charged in connection with a series of financial crimes

FORMER co-leader of East Dunbartonshire Council Andrew Polson has been charged over alleged romance fraud.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 50-year-old man has been arrested and charged on Tuesday, 30 August, 2022  in connection with a series of financial crimes.

“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The Bearsden South councillor was suspended by the Scottish Conservatives in June.
