Former Eagles star: Commanders ‘don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell’

The Washington Commanders will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday for the right to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX. It’s the third matchup of the season between the second-seeded Eagles and sixth-seeded Commanders. The teams split the regular-season series, with Washington winning in Week 16.

As for Sunday’s NFC championship game, former Eagles linebacker Seth Joyner said the Commanders “don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of winning here on Sunday.”

He wasn’t done.

“Make sure you take that and play that all damn week,” Joyner told the show hosts of his comments.

A 13-year NFL veteran, Joyner spent his first eight seasons with the Eagles, playing for Buddy Ryan and with Reggie White and Jerome Brown on one of the best defenses of that era.

Joyner appeared on the WIP Morning Show in Philadelphia on Monday and also seemed dismissive of Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels’ early success.

“I don’t give any young guy that kind of respect,” Joyner said when asked if he thought Daniels was already a top-five quarterback.

“Show me you can do it from year to year. I’m not giving you that in one year. How many times have we had one-year wonders? So, let’s wait and see before we start crowning guys. He could go completely in the tank next year.”

On one hand, Joyner is right. Everyone does seem to crown players too soon. On the other hand, Daniels is special, and more than just Washington fans think that. Also, we’re pretty certain that Daniels really doesn’t care where Joyner ranks him.

It should be a fun week.
