Former Coronation Street actress who married notorious prisoner Charles Bronson found dead

Former Coronation street actress Paula Williamson, who married notorious prisoner Charles Bronson in 2017, has been found dead.

Staffordshire Police say the body of the 38-year-old was discovered in a house in Stoke-on-Trent this morning.

A police statement said: "A woman from Stoke-on-Trent who was found dead this morning has been named as Paula Williamson, aged 38.

"Paula's body was found in a house on Gordon Avenue, Sneyd Green, at around 7am.

"A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

"A report is now being prepared for the coroners."

The Mirror reports that Paula had filed for divorce from Bronson – who also goes by the name of Charles Salvador . The in a prison chapel in November 2017.

Their relationship had broken by July last year with Paula appearing on ITV show Loose Women and breaking down in tears discussing her marriage.

Paula had appeared in Coronation Street and Emmerdale and met Bronson in prison in late 2016.

The marriage was set to be annulled.

Paula appeared in Coronation Street three times between 2008 and 2012 as an unnamed nurse.

She has also starred in TV shows including Hollyoaks, where she played a doctor, and Emmerdale.

Her death comes days after Bronson, 66, said he had 'found true love' and planned to wed again.

In an interview from behind bars he was asked if he would ever find true love. He said: "I already have - she's 63 years old and absolutely stunning.

"It's like I always say, stick to what you know, and my Joan comes from the same era and likes all the same things as me.

"We're traditional and have the same style and attitudes to things."

Bronson has spent the last 44 years of his life behind bars for a litany of offences.

He was first caged in 1974 for armed robbery and has spent most of his life in Britain’s toughest jails.

He last tasted freedom in 1993 and became notorious for attacking prison staff and fellow lags and taking people hostage behind bars.

was in HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire, where he married third wife Paula in 2017.

But he was shifted to Frankland prison in County Durham after a clash with the deputy governor over his wedding snaps.

Last year Paul revealed how her bizarre relationship with Bronson had driven her to the brink of suicide.

She said: “This relationship has driven me to the brink and I have been so low that I have even thought about taking my own life.

“No relationship should make you feel that way.

“It is time for people to know the truth of what happened between us. I have been used and controlled from behind bars as he has poked fun at my weight and told me I am an embarrassment.

“I sat across from him in prison a couple of months ago when I hit rock bottom over the way he was squandering his chances of parole and I showed him scars on my arms from where I had tried to hurt myself.

“I feel like he has chewed me up and spat me out just like he did with the last woman who fell for him.”

It was reported that Paula had been thrown out of a nightclub on Saturday after getting into an argument with bouncers.

Williamson's new lover first raised the alarm after noticing that she wasn't breathing and contacted emergency services, the Sun reported.

An ambulance rushed to the scene but she was pronounced dead at around 7am this morning.

It is understood that Paula and her partner had moved in together just a few weeks ago.
