Per Tigerrag.com:
Former LSU wide receiver Ben Jones (1972-74), one of four of Jones sons who played college football including former LSU quarterback Bert Jones (1970-72), told Tiger Rag Saturday that his father had passed away with his wife Shumpert of 78 years and other family with him at their Ruston home, where they lived since 1952.
Jones’ scored four rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns in a 42-21 win over te Bears in 1951, becoming the second player in NFL history to score six touchdowns in a game.
As a matter of coincidence Dub Jones was a second overall pick out of Tulane. His son, Bert, went on to be a second overall pick out of LSU by the Baltimore Colts.
It has been a difficult time for the Browns and their loyal fans as beloved broadcaster Jim Donovan died recently. The team is paying tribute to Donovan with decals on their helmets.
Continuing to honor the legend 🧡 pic.twitter.com/CKNkRowNLt
