Two former fraternity brothers of Luigi Mangione at the University of Pennsylvania have come forward to share insights into his character following his implication as the main suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Both classmates, who chose to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the situation, emphasized that Mangione appeared to be a typical student who integrated well within their social circles.
According to one of the former classmates, Mangione was actively involved in social activities such as watching football and playing video games with fellow fraternity members. However, he also dedicated significant time to his engineering coursework due to its demanding nature.
Expressing disbelief at the situation, one of the classmates mentioned that Mangione was even more ordinary than the typical description of a quiet individual. There were no recollections of Mangione exhibiting any extreme behavior or making concerning remarks during their time together.
The second classmate echoed these sentiments, noting that Mangione did not engage in any off-putting conversations, even within the fraternity where discussions could be intense.
Despite their positive recollections of Mangione, both former classmates admitted to losing touch with him in recent years, with one mentioning that Mangione seemed to have distanced himself from their social circle.
As authorities continue their investigation into the case, the testimonies of Mangione's former classmates shed light on his demeanor and interactions during his university years.
