A former Celtic star has returned to his roots in celebrating one of Lanarkshire 's most iconic occasions.
Yesterday's Lanark Lanimer Day saw thousands line the streets and take part in its historic parade.
And one of those was ex-Hoops goalkeeper Rab Douglas who returned to his home town to join in the fun.
The stopper turned up suited and booted for the big day and took part in the morning rideout.
He is pictured all smiles on the back of a white horse as the Lanimer parade got underway.
Douglas was a mainstay in Martin O'Neill's Celtic side during his five-year stint between 2000 and 2005.
The goalie played an integral role in the Parkhead club's memorable UEFA Cup run in 2003 and played in the final against Porto in Seville.
He also went on to play for Leicester City and earned 19 caps for Scotland.
Turning up to Lanark Lanimer Day yesterday, Douglas saluted locals in the town. He Tweeted: "Lanark Lanimer Day 2022. Have a great day fellow Lanarkians".
Joyful scenes continued throughout yesterday as Lanark residents and visitors lapped up the occasion.
This year was made extra special as the historic event returned to its former glory after two years of Covid restrictions.
Lanarkshire Live was in attendance and it really felt like a carnival atmosphere at its very best.
The Royal Burgh was awash with colour as the processions got underway.
And it was all building up to this afternoon's much-anticipated Crowning Ceremony – the pinnacle of the Lanimer celebrations.
This year's Lanimer Queen, Caitlin Stewart of Lanark Primary School was crowned in front of thousands of cheering locals.
The celebrations continued into the evening with the Lord Cornet's Declaration and an Evening Spectacular to round off a fantastic day.
