Former Celtic duo on end of Bayern Munich hammering with own goal part of game to forget

Former Celtic duo Cristian Gamboa and Saidy Janko both started for Vfl Bochum as they suffered a hammering from German giants Bayern Munich.

It was a night to forget for the ex-Hoops pair as they shipped seven goals and slumped to the foot of the Bundesliga table with 0 points from their opening three games. The full-backs were on the books at Celtic at the same time and have been reunited in Germany.

It was an eventful evening for both with Janko booked while Gamboa scored an unfortunate own goal after putting in a last ditch tackle on former Manchester City star Leroy Sane. His challenge rolled past team-mate and goalkeeper Manuel Riemann into the bottom corner of the net to make it 6-0 to the visitors.

Big summer signing Sadio Mane - who joined from English Premier League outfit Liverpool - hit a double while fellow new recruit Matthijs de Ligt was also on target. Kinsgley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Sane also got on the scoresheet along with Gambo's own goal.

The two former Celtic defenders will be hoping to get off the mark when they travel to Freiburg this coming Friday night before a home clash with Werder Bremen and a trip to Schalke.

For Bayern, who has scored a stunning 15 goals in three games in the league after just three games, they face Borussia Monchengladbach, a domestic cup clash with Viktoria Koln and Union Berlin in their next three outings.

Another former Celtic star had a weekend to remember in Germany's top flight as Oliver Burke fired home a 95th minute winner for Werder in a stunning 3-2 comeback win at Borussia Dortmund.

It's the second time the Scotland international has hit a crucial goal five minutes into added time already this season.

His side were trailing 2-0 in the 88th minute but completed an incredible seven minute turnaround to spark wild scenes.
